From "Bandha Paramasivam" to "Budget Padmanaban"

Everybody is talking about global meltdown. Companies are announcing lay-offs. Pay pockets are trimmed. So what are the after effects……………….

The guys who were getting hefty salaries are no longer roaming with thenavattu. There is a sharp decline for them in the marriage market. Some guys who are fortunate to get married are postponing their honey moon trip. They are planning to go for honey moon after the age of 60 to avail senior citizen concession in the fare.

Today is bench….Tomorrow platform??????????Week end eating out in hotels cannot be done.If at all they go with family , they order for a plate of mini idli (14 button sized idlies)and each take 2 mini idlies.

Ordering for pizza and waiting for the delivery boy is forgotten.People are prepared to work as delivery boys.

Every where cost cutting is there. They don’t see full cricket match.See only high lights.News is not seen fully.Only head lines.Al l to save electricity bills.

Use and throw culture has changed to throw and use.People are prepared to use old apparels and other articles to its full life.

Guys no longer prefer cafeterias in the office. You can see ‘playa soru ‘inside tupper ware containers.

Going to multiplexes for viewing films are a dream now.People are happy to welcome touring theatres where 4 intervals are there.

All beauty parlours are empty. The beauticians are with out work and they may announce shaving free for hair cutting.Free sambirani for oil bath....People are searching for the barber Perumal who was doing hair cutting for our thattha for four rupees.

The worst affected is the real estate.Houses are displaying ‘to let’ board. But no takers for the house.House owners may announce freebies like complimentary breakfast, free pickup from office, vehicle for school going children etc,.

They were carrying lap tops even to rest rooms. Now these laptops are sold for a price of lolli pop.

There is a sudden transformation in life. Are all these things due to globalization???????If a U.S bank becomes bankrupt thousands of call centre guys in India loose job..

“Anga adichaa inge valikkuthu!

All Bandha Paramasivams have become Budget Padmanaban.

Millionaires are becoming slumdogs….

Blog elutharavan ellam blob agapporan………… Bayama irukku. Ellarayum kappathu sameee…….

Kumar..good post. You have portrayed the current economic realities and its impact very well with an added sense of humor. During my last visit to India, I remember going to one of saravana bhavans (where they serve with silver plates) on peters road. I was shocked to see the number of IT guys having a casual 'Rs.200 lunch' at that place. India's economic boom was mainly tied to the emerging middle class, employed mostly in the IT sector. For India to be able to sustain the growth, they have to soon start de-coupling their growth engine from the US IT industry. Rather than body shopping for US IT, start producing scientists and engineers for some other industry
with a predominantly domestic demand. I will stop right here, else it will become a blog within blog!

was a good blog depicting todays scenario..but these corrections were required for our bandha paramasivams who were behaving like 'alpathukku aiswaryam vandha addha raathirille kudai pidikkum'..let them understand the value of hardwork ,come out of the IT cucoon and explore the world outside it..
btw prasanna !hats off to ur pattai pattai underwear comment:-)

hei prasanna i am giving final warning ,here after u should shoudnot talk abt pattapatta underware .it is our national dress from kasmir to kanyakumari.it is against code of conduct since election process started.it is the cine costume right from kavundamani, senthil, vadivelu, rajkiran etc in those days sivaji ganesan sundarrajan used to act with pattapatti night dress.i can create a seprate blog comparin the advantage of a pattapatti underware with VIP or CRYSTAL jatti.beware of patti

Appa(Ramki),
I can totally understand your sentimental attachment to 'Patta Patta' underwear!

Excellent Blog and comments...recession is just part of business, same as like Health Poblems..But only if we get our hands burnout, we'll not touch the fire...So its a Thrill in touching the fire and learning..
This economic recession made everyone to think and do some systematic investments rather than see,buy and throw concepts..
Hope everything is for good and soon,we'll forget about this blog and start writing a blog about our expenses.......he he he....
